General Awareness

General Awareness

General Knowledge (General Awareness) is a vast subject, and it needs regular reading to score well. It is also the section where a well-prepared student can answer quickly and save time for Maths and Reasoning. At Odisha Career we repeat Static GK sessions for every subject every four months – Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Science, History, Geography, Economics and Political Science – so that students revise each topic several times before the exam.

Static GK and Current Affairs

Static GK

Facts that do not change: Indian history, geography, polity, economy, general science, important days, books and authors, and Odisha GK. Learn it once, revise it often.

Current Affairs

Events of the last 6–12 months: government schemes, appointments, awards, sports, science and technology, economy, and Odisha news. Read it daily.

How to prepare General Awareness

  1. Start with NCERT basics for History, Geography, Polity and Science (Classes 6–10). Most static questions come from this level.
  2. Read current affairs daily for 30 minutes and make short notes. Our Current Affairs & Vocabulary page helps.
  3. Do not ignore Odisha GK. OPSC, OSSC, OSSSC and Police exams always ask questions on Odisha’s history, geography, culture, economy and schemes.
  4. Revise monthly. At the end of every month, revise all current affairs of that month in one sitting.
  5. Practise MCQs to test what you have read.
