Eligibility Criteria:

General Eligibility:

  • Must be a citizen of India.
  • Must be of good character, sound health, good physique, and free from organic defects or bodily infirmity.
  • If married, must not have more than one spouse living.
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak Odia fluently and have passed:
    • Middle School Examination with Odia as a language subject, OR
    • HSC Examination or equivalent with Odia as Medium of examination in non-language subject, OR
    • Odia as a language subject in the final examination of Class-VII or above from a Govt. recognized institution, OR
    • A test in Odia in Middle English School standard conducted by the School and Mass Education Department, Govt. of Odisha.

Note on Certificates:

  • Applicants for Junior Stenographer must produce a Stenography Certificate (min. 80 wpm in English and Odia) from a Govt. recognized institution, issued prior to the online application closing date.
  • Applicants for Junior Grade Typist and Typist-cum-Scribe Assistant must produce a Typing Writing/Stenography Certificate from a Govt. recognized institution, issued prior to the online application closing date.

Age Relaxation:

  • 5 years for SEBC, SC, ST & all Women candidates.
  • 10 years for PwD category.
  • Total period of service rendered in defence service for Ex-Servicemen.
  • PwD candidates in ST & SC category get cumulative age relaxation of ten years over & above normal relaxation.

  • Candidates must have a valid e-Mail Id and Mobile number and keep them active until the recruitment process is complete.
  • The examination fee has been exempted for all categories of candidates.

Important Examination Notes:

  • There shall be negative marking: 0.25 marks for each wrong answer if options are four, and 0.33 marks if options are three.
  • Preliminary and Main Examinations (except language paper) will be conducted in both Odia and English. Candidates must choose their medium in the online application, and this option cannot be changed.
  • The Commission will adopt a “Normalisation Formula” for results if the examination is conducted in multiple batches using different question papers.
  • No Admission Letter will be sent by post; candidates are advised to regularly check www.ossc.gov.in for updates, exam dates, and to download their Admission Letters.
  • Candidates are advised to submit the Online Application Form well in advance to avoid last-hour rush.
  • PwD candidates with disabilities not less than 40% and writing limitations can use their own scribe with Commission permission. They must opt for a scribe in the online application and submit required documents.
